Five Easy Guitar Songs You Can Play Acoustically

By Jeff Yuan

When you learn to play the acoustic guitar, it's not only fun but also a genuine treat for your audience. The majority of students don't understand that many of their favorite songs make use of only three chords or so, but that doesn't mean they are less enjoyable. Actually, many famous songs are easy to learn when looked at from their chord structure. To prove that to you, here are 5 easy guitar songs that you can try.

1. For What It's Worth Buffalo Springfield made this number a hit in the 60's. Much of this song utilizes A and E chords, and also the chorus employs both C and D chords. As you may already know, there isn't much intricacy to the song, and you should be able to come across easy instructions regarding how to strum when singing the actual words.

2. Knockin' on Heaven's Door Bob Dylan was the first to play this song, followed up by Guns 'N Roses who again made this song famous, and since it's in this list, you already know it isn't difficult to learn. One great place to look is YouTube for a video lesson, which would tell you when to play the chord and how long to hold the notes.

3. Redemption The third on this listing of acoustic easy guitar songs is Bob Marley's masterpiece, "Redemption." This is a little bit more intricate to play since it uses more chords than the foregoing two songs, but continue to be inside the elementary chord range and should be learned from that point of view. This song utilizes Am, Em, G, D along with C chords. It can appear more complex, but it is a fine beginner's way in to guitar.

4. Wish You Were Here This song was first performed by the famous band, Pink Floyd. You'll notice there are a number of chords written in this song, but they are all spaced out so nicely that you have time to get your fingers in position before you need to play the next one. Playing Wish You Were Here, the chords that are played are A, Am, G, D and Em. If you can play this piece it will be a good time for your listeners, and there's no need telling them how easy it was to learn.

5. Time of Your Life The last of the easy guitar songs which you can play unplugged is called Time of Your Life, made legendary by the popular alternative band Green Day. This song is pretty repetitive, you are going to find. As a result of that, it is easy to play (you even play a note 9 times over at one point). It might sound basic, but it's a piece of art. This song will play G, D, C and Em chords.
