Learn Guitar Program - Jamorama

By Jimmi Jones Jr.

I've always been a huge fan of hte guitar, but never had the time to focus on learning it. One day when I wnet through a really bad relationship breakup, I found myself with more time and wanting to focus on learning this great instrument.

Now that I'm at an intermediate level with my guitar skills, I've got to say that my life is much improved - I regularly gig with two groups that each love the same types of music I do, and playing guitar has helped me get active in many parts of my life again. Although I never meant to take it this far, I'm back to doing what I love in life again, and through the club scene have actually started dating again - this time someone who's as interested in music as I am :)

When I was first looking at the Jamorama Guitar Lesson system, I was anxious about buying it. I always have apprehension about buying anything on the internet, because it has a reputation for not always having the best products. When I did some investigation, and found that it had a solid 60 day money back guarantee backed up by Clickbank, I was fine with trying out the purchase. I've purchased clickbank products before, and on the occasional time when I've had to do a return, never had any hassle with it whatsoever.

When I purchased the Jamorama lesson system, I dedicated a certain bit of time each and every day to managing the process and learning the system. For me personally I have to say that it definitely helped me learn the guitar. It was a quick and simple practice, but takes time to learn just like any other systems.

Starting off with Jamorama, there's a lot of useful information to digest, however it's all very useful. There are beginner, intermediate, and advanced sections, and they're all quite helpful in determining what the best options are in moving forward with a guitar lesson program. I highly recommend the DVDs, and can say that I think they're a great option for learning on.

These days I'd say I'm an intermediate level guitar player. It took a lot of work to get there, but I'm at the point where I regularly go to clubs and play with some of the guys. For me personally, I've made it further through this system than any other book or program that I've tried before - it's kept me focused a good part of the way.

I'm looking forward to some of the advanced lessons - I'm personally not quite up to that skill level yet, however I've shown some of the advanced lessons to some of the guys in my gigging groups, and even though they've been playing guitar for years and don't seem like the type that still have anything to learn, they picked up a copy for themselves to practice at home.

I personally have to credit the Jamorama guitar lesson review with helping me with my skills as a guitar player. It's definitely had an impact on helping make me the guitar player I am today.

Free Hip Hop Beats - Where to Get Them

By Daniel Akinson

Free hip hop beats are everywhere on the Internet, though the quality certainly leaves something to be desired. I certainly wouldn't suggest trying to make a large commercial album using free beats, but for the beginning rapper it's an ideal way to start for little cost. Over time, and as you skills develop, you can reinvest some money towards getting original instrumentals for your album. Still, there are a few places where you can score free hip hop beats that have a degree of quality.

The initial position to check out is Jamendo. This is a website that provides you to explore for music by genre, country and most importantly, the licence for the work. There are two important distinctions when it gets to using other people's tracks. For example, they could admit people to use their songs, but not commerically, while others admit commercial apply so long as you don't modify the euphony.

For our purposes I recommend you search for tracks that can be modified and used commercially. The easiest way to do this is to use the Creative Commons search engine (which comes included with Firefox browser). Navigate to Jamendo using the CC search engine and make sure to click the boxes that say ""use for commercial purposes" and "modify, adapt, or build upon." You can search for free hip hop beats, or narrow it down by genre. For example, if you are looking for a rock sound to add to an existing track, you can search the rock section. All in all, Jamendo is really a one stop shop for hip hop instrumentals and loops.

Another stable site is through large hip hop forums. Most of them make a section where you might contact manufacturers instantly and ask for some beats. This is usually more time consuming than using the explore engine, but if you are a regular assembly poster with some believability, these producers are more probably to offer some rap beats for you to make with.

There are a general variety of available hip hop beats visible, and employing Jamendo and live forums you may take a hold of enough to keep you spitting lyrics for years to get.

Remember, that when you get some thing for free, you don't have a partner to work with. You're not paying for their serve, which usually means that any changes, no matter how small, will have to come from your end.

Learn Guitar Scales : The Mixolydian Solos

By Nick Dillon

Anyone who aspires to be a lead guitarist will eventually want to learn guitar scales and the modes. Using the modes offers so many more opportunities with lead guitar, but a lot of players often overlook it. It's important to understand these are not the pentatonic or blues scales. Once you learn the pentatonic scales you can simply add two notes to create the seven modes of the major scale. The point is; if you can learn how to add a few notes to the pentatonic scales and play with your pinky you're going to be able to play diverse and impressive sounding solos. One of the best modes to learn is the Mixolydian Mode.

The Mixolydian Mode can be used with any of the 12 keys. Since the Mixolydian Mode is in reality a different way of playing the major scale, knowing it as well as the major scale, essentially doubles the number of scales that you have at your disposal. When you learn guitar scales, you learn that a scale is a set of seven notes that is defined by the root note. Now, for less than advanced guitar players, this means the note that you first play and the note that you last play when you play the scale. This note should also somehow be emphasized, such as by bending it or sustaining it for longer than the other notes that you hit for your lead break or solo.

If we look a little deeper, a mode can be more than just the first and last note of the scale. A mode contains a distinct set of intervals, and this actually defines the mode's feel and sound, while the key that the mode is played in defines the exact notes contained.

The Mixolydian mode contains these notes: Root, major 2nd, major 3rd, major 4th, major 5th, major 6th, and flatted 7th. So, if this mode is played in the key of C major, the notes are: G, A, B, C, D, E, and F. The only difference between this mode and the G major scale, is that the major scale has an F sharp. This one note difference gives the Mixolydian mode a more "bluesy" sound by way of the flat 7th.

The term "key" describes the central note or tonic centre around which a piece of music is based. The mixolydian mode can be effectively played over the G major chords in the key of C or its relative minor : A minor. The mode can also be played where G is the tonic centre or key in itself.

The Mixolydian Mode is applied to many different styles or genres of music. This mode is often used in rock music to give a solo a melodic, powerful, and bright feel. As an example; Slash of Guns n Roses used this mode for his first two solos in "Sweet Child O Mine". You will also find this mode extensively used in Jazz guitar.

When you learn guitar scales, don't forget your modes. Learn the Mixolydian Mode.

All Good Guitar Jam Tracks Should Have These 5 Things

By Jeremy Hume

The reason most guitar jam tracks are not great is that they don't have a cool rhythm. It's hard to build phrases/solos when the track is just a power chord progression. In many of these, the whole track has the exact same rhythm as well. You aren't even presented with an opportunity to change your phrasing because you aren't given any rhythmic variations. Clearly, rhythm is a key factor when evaluating a guitar jam track.

One of the key elements of a good guitar jam track is a well thought out melody. This melody can't take up all the musical space above the bass, but it should offer a more interesting upper voice to the track. The benefit of having a clear melody is that the player can hear the subtle interactions of their phrases with the melody. This can lead to a more interesting and fulfilling jam because there is a vocal quality to the leads. There is definite call and response characteristics and this puts what the guitarist is playing into more of a muscial context rather then just playing notes.

If you shoot for a jam track that is between three and five minutes in length, you will probably find that it is a comfortable length. If the track is to much shorter, you may be cut off early (a real annoyance), and any longer, you might find yourself wishing it would end. Length is important in a jam track and choosing one in this range may ensure you keep coming back to it. Don't think that looping a shorter one is the same either because the fact that the track ends, even for a few seconds, is very annoying and can contribute to a lot of unnecessary frustration.

The way to get out of the rut you may be in with your playing is to get out of your comfort zone. Look for jam tracks that are something different then you are used to. If you constantly put yourself in different musical settings where you are forced to expand your horizons, you will improve as a player. Even if you aren't in a rut, there is never a bad thing with trying something different. If you find a jam track that's interesting you should try it. Who knows, it may be one you keep coming back to and something you can give credit to when you develop your own style.

Sound Quality: The quality of the sound on the recording is a big factor in determining the value of a jam track. The reason being if you can't hear the nuances and subtleties of the playing, it means that the jam track is not particularly good. Obviously, you aren't going to be able to hear subtle details if there are none, but that in itself makes for not a very good track. You want the jam track to be as clear as possible. Both in its composition and its tone/the tones of the recordings. This will help ensure that you get the most out of it.

Rock Guitar Lesson - Chords & Scales You Need To Know

By Nick Dillon

This rock guitar lesson will explain the commonly used scales and chords that are used in rock music. Rock music essentially grew out of blues; so much of the components of rock will also be common to blues music.

With rock music there are common chords that are used, the most common being the 5 chord or power chord, the major and minor chords. In rock guitar the most common scales used for soloing are the minor pentatonic, major pentatonic and blues scales.

The powere chord or 5 chord is simply the root and the perfect fifth. It can be played just using these two notes or adding the root up an octave using three strings. This chord is used primarily in rock, hard rock, metal and punk music. The chord is commonly played with the root on the low E string or on the A string. Because most chords are constructed using a root and fifth, it is important to learn the power chords. They provide an easy stepping stone to learning most other chords on the guitar.

Rock guitar commonly relies on the major and minor chords, in the form of triads. If we take a 5 chord and and add a minor third to it, we create a minor chord. If we add a major third, we create a major chord. It is common to play these chords in the open position on the fretboard, but they can be played on any part of the fretboard.

In rock, the most common scale used for guitar soloing is the minor pentatonic. This scale can be called the "bread and butter" scale of rock. It is best to learn this scale first, as it will be the most versatile scale in your soloing arsenal. The blues scale is also very common in rock music, and is created by simply adding a flat five to the minor pentatonic.

The major pentatonic scale and the major scale are commonly used in rock guitar. These scales will give a brighter sound to that of the minor pentatonic, and tend to be favoured by country players. These scales can be applied to many different styles of rock music from heavy rock to country to pop.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this rock guitar lesson, it should give you a clear understanding of what you need to learn to play rock music. Keep practicing, and best of luck with the guitar.

Lead Guitar Lesson : Starting Out With Guitar Solos

By Nick Dillon

Would you like to play lead guitar, but you're not sure where to start? This lead guitar lesson hopefully will explain the easiest and quickest way to get started with lead guitar and improvisation. Improvising relies upon playing the right sounding notes over the musical backing piece or backing track. The question is; how do you know what notes will sound good? Well, it's actually pretty easy, but to many people the idea of learning scales is a little scary, difficult or just plain boring. There is no way around it, if you want to improvise on the guitar, the easiest way is to know a few basic scales and how to apply them.

If you want to play lead guitar and improvise, you'll have to learn the minor pentatonic scale. This is the single most important tip from this lead guitar lesson. This one scale alone seems to be the most popular for rock and blues as well as many other genres of music. If you had to pick one scale to learn for guitar soloing, this would be the best choice.

The minor pentatonic scale is one of the most commonly used scales for guitar solos. When you hear a guitar solo, chances are it most likely contains the notes of the minor pentatonic scale. This scale is used extensively in rock and blues as well as many other genres of music.

Simply by adding a note or two to the minor pentatonic scale you can create many other scales. It is the fundamental scale that many others are built from. These include the Aeolian mode also known as the natural minor scale as well as the blues scale and Dorian mode. These modes and scales are very useful for lead guitarists in and will be discussed in more detail in future lead guitar lessons.

When learning the minor pentatonic scale, you can also easily learn the major pentatonic scale (which is also an extremely popular scale). The scale shapes for both of these scales is the same; they just sit in different positions on the guitar.

The minor pentatonic is an extremely versatile scale. It is one of the few scales that can be played over major and minor keys. When applied properly you could play it over most chord progressions and it will sound good more times than not.

The final point in this lead guitar lesson is probably the most important one. The minor pentatonic scale is very easy to learn because it only contains five notes. When these notes are arranged on the fretboard they form five simple box shape patterns. By learning these box shape patterns you can add additional notes to create other scales very easily. It is important to thoroughly learn this scale as it is the easiest way to get started with lead guitar and will form a solid foundation for all future lead guitar playing.

How to Improve Your Guitar Playing Using A Guitar Teacher

By Carlos Garcia

Most anybody can learn the guitar, and some can even teach themselves. Most people will need the guidance of a good guitar teacher in order to learn how to play correctly. For that reason, you will have to invest time if you want to to look into your tutor's background to help you find a talented teacher who has the ability to show you guitar.

In most cases, when you are looking for instruction of any sort, you look closely at the qualifications of the teachers including their own educational background as well as their years of teaching. This is not the norm when it comes to guitar lessons, but the fact is that many great teachers don't hold degrees.

Besides this fact, you will most likely have a hard time trying to get a teacher based on their personal music ability. It might seem funny at first blush, but many instructors don't play nearly as well as they teach. Guitarists will prove the same rule: many fine guitarists can't teach a single student, so this is not a way to find a good teacher.

Due to these facts, you need to know what you actually are looking for when you want a guitar teacher. You ought to find somebody who is able to instruct effectively, and who likes to teach. You can pose a number of different questions if you hope to see where they stand on this issue. For one thing, you will want to know about their teaching career and their attitude about it. This indicates experience.

Another question you need to raise is what sets them apart to be able to instruct. This is not necessarily the most effective factor when attempting to find the best teachers, as indicated. Though you do need to know where the trainer attended school, if they have a degree, you are going to find first-rate musicians who have never went to music school.

You may also want to ask your tutor about the rest of the students that they are teaching - do they train a number of students, and at what skill level? Being armed with that data will help you appreciate how many students your instructor has taught and is training, which provides you with an idea of your instructor's aptitude. In addition, you are going to learn if your instructor prefers more highly developed students, or if he or she is effective at teaching various levels.

Lastly, you want to ask whether guitar teacher is going to be able to give you some students' contact details so you can get another point of view, or maybe you could sit in a lesson being taught. This will likely make it easier to determine what sort of impression and effect the teacher has on their students. You will also be able to evaluate what kind of patience level and musical ability your tutor offers, and what you might expect in your own personal lessons relating to mastering guitar.

Certain scales are matched to certain styles and genres of music, by knowing the scales you can greatly add to the diversity of your sound.

Learning bass guitar scales will advance your playing in many different ways. If you only learn a few scales that relate to your style of music you will find your playing is much easier and more fun.

Blues Guitar Scales : Which Ones And Where To Use

By Nick Dillon

When applying a guitar solo to a blues progression it is important to know what scale or scales will work and what will sound good. The most basic blues progression is constructed around I, IV, V progression in twelve bars. In the blues, these chords all tend to be the same type of chords, typically: seventh, major or minor chords. So, for example, a regular twelve bar blues will contain all seventh chords, a minor blues: all minor chords and a major blues all major chords.

Now if we examine a typical blues composed of seventh chords we will find that there isn't one particular scale that contains all of the notes within these chords perfectly. The best match might be to play the mixolydian mode over each corresponding chord. This would mean mixolydian mode in the key of the I chord, played only over the I chord, mixolydian mode in the key of the IV chord, played only over the IV chord, mixolydian mode in the key of the V chord, played only over the V chord. This is one way to do it, your solo will certainly sound good over the chord changes and bright with the major 3rd.

A blues progression can also be constructed around entirely major chords in the I, IV, V pattern. In this instance, use the I major scale to solo with. It will fit perfectly with the chords, and it will difficult to hit a wrong sounding note.

A blues progression can be constructed with entirely minor chords. In this case use the natural minor scale to solo with. This scale will fit perfectly over this progression, because the chords contain the exact same notes as the corresponding scale.

What I would like to do now is introduce the most common blues guitar scale and explain when it is best suited. This scale is called the blues scale, and it is simply the minor pentatonic scale with a flat five added to the scale. Previously, I mentioned that the most common type of blues progression is composed of entirely seventh chords(R,3, 5,flat7). The blues scale is the most popular scale used to solo over this type of progression. You may have realised that this scale contains a minor third, however the chords use the major third. How could this sound good? Wouldn't they conflict? Well, put simply this is what gives the blues such a distinctive "bluesy" sound - the flat 5 also gives this "bluesy" sound.

So there you have it, to find the correct scale to play over a blues progression, typically a I, IV, V chord progression, firstly look at the I chord. If it is a seventh chord you could use the mixolydain mode as described previously, or just use the blues scale. Using the key of A - you would use the A blues scale. If it is a A major or A minor as the I chord you would use the A major and the A minor scale respectively. You could also just use the A blues scale over these two progressions as well, or a combination. You have plenty of options available, so have some fun and experiment with these various blues guitar scales.

How To Download More Files Faster By Using A Torrent Tracker

By Sharon Stenning

This article is going to help the reader understand why so many people are starting to prefer the torrent tracker over classic P2P technologies. This type of file is such a better way for people to share anything that they want, and there are many good reasons for this. This is why more and more people are starting to look for these files.

People that are familiar with the sharing of digital files, will be aware that people have used "peer to peer" file sharing applications in the past. These programs worked very well, but there was only so many people sharing a file at a time because the software was searching its own private servers. Even with the advent of broadband, the speeds were not as quick as they are now.

If a person wants to take advantage of this new file sharing craze, they are typically going to require two things. The first thing is an application that is very similar to a P2P application, in fact many modern P2p programs have the ability to download this files. There are many applications, and all of these applications have different features regarding security and other things.

People that used P2P sharing programs in the past, were looking for their files from inside of the program. People tend to turn to the web when it comes to finding the type of files being discussed here. There are many websites that are hosting these files, and they require no membership. People can check them out and simply type in whatever they are looking for.

There is a growing number of file sharers that are starting to actually prefer the type of website that requires a membership. Some of these charge, and some of them are still free for members. A membership site is going to very carefully monitor who is sharing and leeching each and every file. These membership sites usually have some type of ratio rating system. You have to share if you are going to be downloading!

There are many people learning that this is the fastest possible way that they could possibly download their favorite music. Many people appreciate using the very fast speed for downloading large video files. Just about any kind of file that exists is being shared through the use of this new file technology and many smaller artists find it an easier way to distribute their work with the world.

The great thing about these type of files, is that they are not limited to a small group of people on a classic, P2P style server. A lot of people using a lot of sharing programs are going to popular websites to find and share these files. It is not unusual for a popular file to be seeded by not hundreds, but thousands of seeders. This drives the download speed up tremendously.

It is now hoped that anybody who is reading this can understand why the torrent tracker file, is such an important invention within the world of file sharing. People are starting to ditch their old P2P applications for apps that are dedicated solely to these type of files. Some people are using their old P2P application for downloading these files.

Pentatonic Guitar Scales and Soloing

By Nick Dillon

Pentatonic guitar scales are usually the starting point for many guitarists when first starting out with lead guitar. They are great for soloing and can be applied to many different types of music, including blues, rock and country.

All pentatonic guitar scales, by definition have five notes. In western music there are two pentatonics commonly used, these are the minor pentatonic and the major pentatonic. A variation of the minor pentatonic scale is the frquently used blues scale.

The minor pentatonic is commonly used in rock and blues music but is not limited to these groups alone. The minor pentatonic is a staple for many guitar solos, and it is generally a very popular scale used for lead guitar playing. The minor pentatonic scale is composed of: root, flat 3, 4, 5 and flat 7 scale steps.

The minor pentatonic can be converted to the blues scale by simply adding a flat 5. This is also a very commonly used scale for not just blues but for many other types of music. When referring to pentatonics for guitar, often the blues scale will be included even though technically it is not a pentatonic scale. It is comprised of : root, flat 3, 4, flat 5, 5 and flat 7. This scale may well be the most popular scale for soloing with the guitar.

A useful and versatile scale commonly used is the major pentatonic. This is comprised of| root, 2, 3, 5, 6 degrees. This scale is also often used in blues guitar and country music but again is not limited to these musical genres. If we take both of these scales we find they are commonly used together when soloing over a twelve bar blues in conjunction with the flat 5, mentioned earlier, from the blues scale

To learn lead guitar it is crucial to learn the major pentatonic and the minor pentatonic guitar scales. Both scales can be used for guitar solos in almost any style of music and contain the same notes that the diatonic modes are formed with. These scales are generally a good starting point when learning guitar soloing.

Free Rap Music - Hip Hop's Best Spots

By Daniel Akinson

Free rap music is everywhere online nowadays, providing hip hop fans a chance to really explore the genre like never before. In this article I'll show you a whole slew of places you can find free rap and hip hop tracks online that will keep you up to date with the freshest music out there today.

The initial site is a great place called Pandora, which allows you to customize your own radio post located on your orientations. For example, you can produce a radio station set on Jay Z, and Pandora services up a list of tracks that are similar in style to Jay Z. While some tracks will be familiar, there will also be those moments where you love a track from a group you've ne'er even heard of before. This is perhaps Pandora's best achievement: it offers missing rap euphony that may not have been listened otherwise. Pandora also permits you to vote for songs as they're played and changes its recommendations accordingly. I'll run Pandora in the ground while at study or at home, and absolutely love the service.

Another great resource for rap tracks is Jameson. This website allows you to search by genre and license. So if you're looking for royalty free rap music, this is a great place to start. If you aren't looking for beats to rap over, you can always just surf the site for new tracks. Jameson can also be used in conjunction with Pandora. If you find a rapper on Jameson, you can search for related rappers on Pandora (or vice verse).

A friend of mine started using You Tube as a radio station. Last time I was at his house he had a whole collection of Outcast songs- some with videos- going on in the background during a party. While you do have to manually switch from one song to the next, You Tube has a huge database of rap tracks that can be used indefinitely. It also gives you a chance to see videos for songs (most of which never get any airplay on TV).

These three sites are without a doubt the resources for hip hop fans looking for free tracks. They also provide fresh content regularly, which helps listeners stay up to date on where hip hop is headed. I highly recommend you get online and start searching these websites for some killer free rap music.

What You Should Know About Beat Maker Software

By Russell Strider

Beat maker software packages give individuals the various tools they require to make beats like expert music producers. While creating rap and hip hop beats does take imagination and skill, beat producing applications will be the best tools to teach you the fundamentals and more sophisticated skills. Even though some picture music producers making use of essentially the most expensive electronics to produce a world famous beat, many skilled beat makers including Just Blaze and Timbaland work with these types of programs to produce unique and complicated instrumentals. Know what you should consider in a beat maker software application and select a software program that could possibly change your life.

You will find free programs and those that cost. While a few of the free programs offer you good options, typically really serious beat makers will make investments in an economical application that doesn't minimize features. In the event you don't have the funds to invest consider downloading a no cost software program to play around with options and to get a feel for exactly how these particular programs work. After you've practiced with a free program you'll want to sooner or later invest in a real beat maker software program that gives you enhanced capabilities.

Top quality beat making programs cost between $50 and $500 depending on your budget. Beat programs were once very costly. Currently, with cutting edge technologies plus a popular demand, programs are considerably more reasonably priced. Don't always expect that an outstanding program must cost a fortune. Top notch applications are reasonably priced and may be downloaded straight off of the web.

Whenever you are examining different programs always remember that some have certain system requirements. If you select a program that isn't compatible with your computer you will not be able to use it. Compare the requirements of the application and make certain you opt for a program you'll be able to operate on your PC or laptop.

Exporting to MP3 is particularly critical. Always look for this particular feature whenever you are deciding on your program. Exporting options will permit you to create a beat then convert it to an MP3 file. With a cutting edge music sequencer and several different keyboards you'll have the ability to produce the very best beats which are professional in quality.

Music production equipment and software programs will take your music to a totally new level. Be certain to compare a number of different programs and compare reviews to select one that can provide you with the tools you will need. With a bit of practice and a modest investment you'll be on your way to achieving your dreams and beginning a brand new rewarding career or hobby.

After A Day At Disney World Its Time To Eat

By Cedric Fairchild

Much like all other great vacation destinations, Orlando consists of impressive restaurants, bars, clubs, lounges, ultra-lounges and all kinds of cuisines of your choice. Even the critiques you read about Orlando restaurants might be somewhat over whelming to pick from. Therefore, listed here are few narrowed down finest restaurants.

Island Time, All the Time

Tommy Bahama is generally recommended restaurant for their stakes, and seafood. Don't allow the funky flower-patterned shirts, Bermuda shorts as well as tropical dcor fool you, their additional delectable dishes also are a treat for your taste buds. The closest thing to a genuine Hawaiian cooking, the restaurant offers selections such as Loki-Loki Tuna Poke appetizer made from fresh, uncooked Ahi tuna marinated in sesame oil and spices that come with a layered fresh guacamole and side of flatbread crisps. And that is just an appetizer; the main dishes are unimaginably far more appealing!

If meat and potatoes are your cravings then try The Tobago Tenderloins with maple-brined, grilled pork tenderloin served with sweet potatoes along with asparagus. Couple it up some decadent Cooper Island Crab Bisque and you'll be delightfully 'tummy filled' happy.

Truly Authentic Thai...Close By

Wish to dine at a Thai restaurant, look no further than for miles off The Fountains is a quaint Thai restaurant named Thai Thani. It might be tricky to find because it's tucked away in a mini-mall next to SeaWorld which makes it look very unpretentious. But don't let that dishearten you from dining in; the inside is abundantly decorated with authentic Thai dcor which is bound to make you feel like you are really in Thailand.

Terrific Teppanyaki

A visit to the Teppanyaki restaurant named Benhihana Orlando is a must. It can be found next door to The Fountains and is known for its dual role of half dining and part floorshow of Japanese restaurants. The floorshow is where the food is cooked on display in front of your eyes, on a hibachi grill surface. You will have the delight of admiring chef's skills of flipping knives, pop up pieces of meat and produce a smoking volcano from an onion.

Perfectly Chilled Libations

Want to relax following a hot day out in Orlando? ICEBAR in Orlando is a 'cool' place to spend the evening. 'Unstoppable' Movie Review

By Chris Smith

'Unstoppable' action/drama movie was recently released into theaters by 20th Century Fox two months ago. I finally got to watch it,and must say that it was a very, very good movie.

I liked this entire movie from beginning to end. It delivered a lot of "edge of your seat" scenes, along with high drama and action. The flick stars: Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, and Kevin Chapman.

"Unstoppable" is based on actual events and centered around veteran train engineer Frank (Washington) and a young conductor named Will (Pine). They start off with a bumpy relationship as Frank is a bit upset that they're giving all the good jobs to the new younger guys. Eventually, they manage to get along well enough to get the train moving on its course.

Dewey who is an irresponsible train driver decides to hop off the train he's in while it's still moving so he can pull a switch. The train gets away from him while the air breaks are detached and the controls are set to full throttle. Railroad controller Connie is quickly made aware of the problem, and makes phone calls to set some stops in place.

However, the train picks up too much speed for the stops to work. Corporate ignores Connie's advice to derail the train before it makes its way to dangerous, crowded town areas. They end up trying to slow it down from the front. Unfortunately, that fails to work, and the train starts heading for a major disaster.

Frank and Will decide to go after the train by attaching and stopping it from the back with a single car train. After an intense effort to attach themselves to the train, they realize that it has too much power for them to stop it,and that's when the real fun, action begins.

They both end up climbing over train cars, pull the breaks on all the cars individually, and make their way to front to stop the train, which was full of highly flammable explosives. They were also being covered by tons of TV news stations. I really enjoyed this movie.

Unstoppable was pretty simple and to the point. A very dangerous high speed train was loose, and they needed to stop it by any means necessary. They stopped it in a crazy, intense plot that left me thinking, "Wow, that was awesome." I gave this movie an A+ all the way.

Lead Guitar Lesson: Alternate and Sweep Picking

By Nick Dillon

This lead guitar lesson will focus on the commonly used picking techniques used to play guitar solos. Understanding when and how to use a particular picking technique is an important skill in lead guitar playing.

Essentially there are three common picking techniques that will be discussed in this lead guitar lesson; these are using purely downstrokes, alternate picking and sweep picking. Each technique will be best suited to a certain lead phrase, style of music and individual preferences.

As the name suggests alternate picking involves an alternating pattern of up and down strokes. So, for example to play the C major scale using three notes per string, using alternate picking, we first start with a downstroke on the C note. Next, an upstroke on the D note followed by a downstroke on the E note. We then move to the A string where the F note is an upstroke followed by a downstroke on the G note and then an upstroke on the A. We simply continue with alternating up and downstrokes to complete the scale. The advantages of alternate picking are that the up and downstrokes help us stay in time and maintain a consistent rhythm with our playing. There is a better economy of movement using the alternate picking technique over using just purely down strokes. This will translate to greater speed, potentially double the speed compared to just using purely down strokes. This lead guitar lesson aims to emphasise the importance of this style of picking.

A style of picking less commonly used in lead guitar playing is sweep picking. This too has its advantages when implemented in a certain context of playing. Sweep picking is a continuous stroke over many strings in one single movement. It is similar to playing a chord, but without letting the notes ring out. This style of picking is used with one note per string with the next note on the adjacent string. Sweep picking enables the best economy of movement when crossing consecutive strings by allowing the pick to travel the least amount of distance in order to hit the notes.

The easiest way to start playing lead guitar is to use purely downstrokes. This may be the steadiest and most accurate way to hit notes, but this style of picking has its drawbacks. Picking in this manner will limit the speed in which notes can be produced as compared with the alternate technique which potentially could be twice as fast.

In lead guitar, it is important to continuously practice propper picking technique. The easiest way to do this is to play a scale pattern using alternate picking. As you get better, increase the speed, but not to the point where your playing gets sloppy. A useful lead guitar lesson tip is to always start out slowly and use a metronome to stay in time. As you practice this exercise, your rhythm, timing and precision will all improve, and so will your lead playing overall.

Learn Guitar Scales : Amazing Solos Using The Dorian Mode

By Nick Dillon

To understand the Dorian mode it is essential that the major scale or Ionian mode is first understood. The mode is derived from the major scale by simply starting on the second note of the major scale. By making the second note now the root note, and keeping the same interval structure, we create a completely different set of sounding notes known as the Dorian mode. As you learn guitar scales you will find this mode particularly useful for soloing.

If we compare Dorian with the the major scale, we find that Dorian keeps the same notes except for a flattened third and flattened seventh interval. This makes the Dorian mode a minor scale, which will sound very different to the major scale.

As you learn guitar scales and modes you will come across the commonly used natural minor scale. The Dorian mode is very similar to the natural minor scale, with one important difference. The Dorian mode has a major sixth interval - the same as the major scale -compared to the flattened sixth of the natural minor scale. This one difference makes Dorian much brighter and happier sounding compared with the natural minor scale.

As you learn guitar scales for soloing, you will probably start with the minor pentatonic scale. The Dorian mode is an extension of this scale. If we add a major second and major sixth to the minor pentatonic, we create the Dorian mode. Thus Dorian can give you a bluesy sound by emphasising the common pentatonic notes, namely the minor third and flattened seventh.

The Dorian mode can be applied to many different styles of music. In rock, Eric Clapton uses this mode in the classic "Cocaine". There are numerous examples of this mode used in popular music as well as jazz. As you progress with lead guitar and learn guitar scales, it will get easier to identify the different sounding modes and scales, and how they effect the feel or mood of the music.

The Dorian mode can be played over minor chords or seventh chords. Seventh chords tend to sound good because four out of the seven notes are common, making it hard to hit a "bad" note.

As you learn guitar scales and modes, keep an eye out for the second major scale mode; Dorian. Using this mode will take your pentatonic solos up a level giving them a more diverse and colourful sound. You will be truly amazed at what the addition of just two notes to the minor pentatonic scale can really do for your guitar solos.

Top Five Reasons To Learn Guitar Scales

By Nick Dillon

It is crucial to learn guitar scales as it provides a solid framework for any lead or rhythm guitar player. The notes contained in scales are essentially the most basic components in which music is constructed around. By understanding and applying even a few scales, your skills as a guitar player will improve dramatically.

Applying certain guitar scales will allow you to portray a sense of mood with your music. Certain guitar scales will also help you zero in on a particular sound or genre of music, and are the backbone to lead guitar and soloing.

Have you ever wondered why certain songs make you feel happy, while others elecit a feeling of sadness? The notes in scales affect the mood in music. For example, to create a happy feel, the major scale is often used. On the other hand, the natural minor scale can portray a sad feel to a song. So when listening to music it is important to understand that the scales used will have a emotional effect on the listener.

To know and learn guitar scales is especially important in lead guitar. For example if you're interested in improvising a guitar solo, you must know which notes are contained in the musical backing piece and the key that the piece is in. By knowing the scale that fits the piece of music, this allows you not to think so much about what notes work, but more importantly, how to express yourself by using the notes that you know fit perfectly. By having a framework in your head of what notes are available to you when improvising a guitar solo - you can create a better solo in much less time and never hit a wrong note. By knowing the appropriate scales, this will make your playing effortless and unlock your creativity.

Different genres of music each have an individual sound and corresponding scale or scales. A good example is the blues, which relies upon many scales, in particular the blues and pentatonic scales.

Perhaps you're interested in a very specialised sound with your guitar playing such as Spanish or flamenco guitar - there are scales that will give you the exact flavour to any type of music that you're into. The point here is that you don't need to know every scale that exists for guitar. Start by learning only the scales that are commonly used for the genre of music that you're interested in.

When learning guitar scales it is important not to view the learning process as a boring and difficult exercise. To learn guitar scales in a musical context, for example with a backing track, the learning process can be fun and often creative. You don't have to learn scales in a boring repetitive, robotic manner!

Hiring A Band For Wedding Receptions

By Jilley Walsh

Disc Jockeys are often the first choice of brides when planning their wedding, but another consideration might be selecting a live band for wedding music instead. A band can add a whole other level of ambiance to a wedding or function versus a DJ playing pre-recorded music on a sound system.

Sometimes couples choose to go with both, and a DJ plays music for the dancing later on in the evening, and a band plays throughout cocktail time and when food is served. This can be nice to have some smooth jazz or a jazz vocalist performing without being overly loud or being a specific song that people may or may not like. The mood will be set with some soft tunes, and a live act is much more pleasant to listen to over a disc jockey. Sometimes you'll see this at corporate parties as well.

A live band can captivate a crowd a lot better than someone with a sound system. The crowd and the performers kind of give each other energy as the mood heightens. A band can get an audience really excited and fired up with games and activities, such as singing along with music and can make your guests feel like they're in the front row of a great concert event.

Specific types of music are more appropriate for live bands. In the case of a party having a rap or dance music theme, you might want to stick with a DJ. If you're going with rock music, or country, then it's good to go with a band.

Looking for a band is quite easy. Ask co-workers and friends if they know anyone or have ever hired a band before. Look at magazines, go to bridal fairs, check your yellow pages, or do a search for "band for hire" on the internet. When you do find a band that interests you, ask for a recording of one of their gigs, maybe a video or CD.

Once you've selected the band you want, get a contract written up. If they don't offer one, make your own and get it signed before you pay any deposit. A well thought out agreement in writing will protect everyone. Think about the results if the band doesn't show up. The contract should address this. Most bands hold insurance specially made for entertainers. Ask if they have this as some venues might even require it. Check with the venue ahead of time to make sure there is adequate space and power for the band to set up and figure out ahead of time where the loading and unloading areas are.

A lot of bands will work with you on the kind of music you want played and give you a playlist of songs they know. It's not always best to try and plan out each song you want them to play, but it's okay to give a bit of guidance. You have to trust the band as professional entertainers to make good song choices to keep everyone interested.

Hiring a band for wedding music is a fantastic idea, and can be a way to make your wedding one to remember for years to come.
